Customs Clearance · Imports & Exports · Nhava Sheva · JNPT · Mumbai Port
Bills of Entry filed in-house.
Containers cleared, not queued.
Our in-house CHA desk — minutes from the port in Chembur — prepares, files and follows every document through Nhava Sheva (JNPT) and Mumbai Port, then our own trailer carries the released container to your gate.
Clearance practised in-house, never outsourced
Most customs clearance agents are a chain — a broker, a sub-broker, a runner at the gate — and your file waits in every hand it passes. As a licensed customs broker (CHA), Badshah Group keeps its clearance practice entirely in-house: the people who examine your invoice, file your Bill of Entry and answer the port sit in one office, working the gateways they work every day.
The desk handles
- Bills of Entry & shipping bills
- Duty computation & payment
- Port & CFS formalities
- Examination & release
- Delivery on owned trucks
Importing or exporting?
The two are different jobs. An import is a race against demurrage: free time usually starts when the box is discharged at the port, and the charges begin the moment it runs out. An export is a race against the vessel cut-off that is won or lost days earlier, at your factory gate. We run them as separate workflows, and both are handled by the same desk.
Import — Bill of Entry
Import clearance & Bill of Entry
Bills of Entry prepared and filed, duty computed and paid, examination coordinated, release pursued — at Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mumbai Port and the CFS network around them. Documents perfected before the vessel docks, so demurrage never begins.

How Customs Clearance Works
This is how our customs clearance agents take a consignment from documents to delivery. The steps differ for exports and imports.
Export clearance
- 01 · Documents: invoice, packing list, shipping bill details
- 02 · Shipping bill filed on ICEGATE
- 03 · Container stuffing / CFS
- 04 · Customs examination, if selected
- 05 · Let Export Order
- 06 · Loading on vessel
Import clearance
- 01 · Documents: bill of lading, invoice, packing list
- 02 · Bill of entry filed
- 03 · Assessment and duty payment
- 04 · Examination, if selected
- 05 · Out of charge
- 06 · Delivery by our own trucks
Demurrage is the enemy
Every day a container waits at the port is a cost. Our desk is built to end the wait at its source: documents perfected before arrival, filing timed to the vessel, duty ready, examination tracked — and a truck of our own at the gate the moment release comes through.
- 01 · Documents perfected pre-arrival
- 02 · Arrival tracked
- 03 · Bill of Entry filed
- 04 · Duty & formalities concluded
- 05 · Released & delivered
Beyond the gate
Gateways
Every gateway, one desk
Mumbai air cargo complex, Mundra, Chennai — each file remains in the hands of the same Chembur desk, whatever gate your cargo enters.
Release
Verified & handed over
Paperwork verified, customs concluded, cargo handed over — the final entry in a file that never left our hands.
Last mile
Delivered after release
The released container moves on our own 150+ trailers — port gate to factory, warehouse or site, without a third-party handoff.
Storage
Warehousing & CFS coordination
Secure warehousing and open-yard storage beside the ports, with CFS coordination while cargo waits on paper.
Customs Clearance Fees — What Affects the Cost
What customs clearance agents charge depends on the consignment, so each one is quoted from its own papers rather than from a rate card. These are the factors that move the cost.
- Cargo type and HS code
- FCL or LCL
- Number of line items
- Customs examination
- Special permits (pharma, chemicals, DG)
- Transport distance

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Short, direct answers to what clients ask us most. Still unsure? Ask us directly.
Do you handle customs clearance at JNPT and Mumbai Port?
Yes. We are licensed customs clearance agents (CHA) handling import and export at Nhava Sheva (JNPT) and Mumbai Port. Our own desk in Chembur, Mumbai — around 40 minutes from JNPT and close to Mumbai Port — files Bills of Entry and shipping bills itself. Badshah Logistics (India) Private Limited, CIN U74999MH2018PTC317972.
How long does customs clearance take at Nhava Sheva?
With complete documents, customs clearance at Nhava Sheva usually takes 2–3 working days as per planning. Timing can vary if customs selects the cargo for examination, documents need correction, or the port/CFS is congested. Share your documents early and we’ll plan the clearance around your vessel or delivery date.
What documents do you need to clear my import or export?
For an import: the bill of lading, commercial invoice and packing list. For an export: the commercial invoice, packing list and the shipping bill details. Some cargo needs more, such as licences, permits or certificates, and we tell you which as soon as we see your documents.
Do you clear both imports and exports?
Yes, and they run as separate workflows. Imports mean Bill of Entry filing, duty computation, examination and release. Exports mean shipping bill filing, documentation assembly and getting the container to the port before the cut-off.
Do you clear cargo at ports outside Mumbai?
Yes. Besides Nhava Sheva (JNPT) and Mumbai Port we clear through the Mumbai air cargo complex and gateways such as Mundra and Chennai. Every file is controlled by the same in-house desk rather than handed to a local sub-agent.
Do you use sub-agents for clearance?
No. The people who examine your invoice, compute the duty, file the document and answer the port sit in one office. Most clearing chains pass a file through a broker, a sub-broker and a runner, and it waits in every hand.
Can you deliver the container after it is released?
Yes. With more than 150 trailers and container trucks of our own, the released container moves from the port gate to your factory, warehouse or site with no third-party handoff and no second invoice.
What does customs clearance cost at Nhava Sheva?
There is no fixed price. The cost depends on cargo type and HS code, FCL or LCL, the number of line items, whether the consignment is examined, any special permits (pharma, chemicals, DG) and the transport distance.
